History: 1994-2000

One day in 1994, I (ben) watched the movie Pump Up The Volume. I was so inspired by the way that Christian Slater turned his nerdy hobbies (amateur radio), into a viable means of getting chicks. I decided then and there that I wanted to operate a Pirate Radio Station. I set about trying to garner knowledge of the subject. I learned tremendous amounts of information from websites, and the newsgoup alt.radio.pirate (where I still get most of my information about pirate radio). It was about this time that I also happened upon the newsgoup alt.pave.the.earth, and was immediately infatuated with their ideas. Hence, Pave the Earth Radio was born. I also started to despise PUTH; in true punk spirit I detest that which has inspired me in the past, as well as that which could benefit me in the future.

I went through several transmitter setups trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with this station. I finally settled on my current setup.

The station has gone through several periods of utter inactivity, and through as many, or more, periods of frequent broadcasts. Occasionally, I would become fearful of an FCC bust, or I would contemplate getting a legitimate license, and stop broadcasting for a while.
